Error "An error occurred while copying the files" when updating Database Table Files

Cause

This error is because of permissions, It occurs when the Database Table Files were previously updated by someone with write permissions and the new user does not have permission to overwrite their files.

Resolution

To fix this

  1. Browse to the location of your current table files set.
You can find this by looking at the target column in Data Manager for the product or by checking the value of the environment variable that points to the DTFs.
  2. Create a new folder called Test within this location.
  3. Open Data Manager and set the target location to the Test folder
  4. Update the table files.
When the update is complete the Test location will be populated with the new DTFs created with your credentials.
  5. Copy and paste all the .tbl files into the original table location, replacing the previous set.
  6. Return to Data Manager and set the target location back to the original location.

The permissions problem should no longer exist and you should now be able to update the DTFs from Data Manager as normal.

Once you have tested this update, you can delete the Test folder.
