Online banking is safer than ordinary banking, according to an expert.
Greg Daugherty, executive editor of Consumer Reports, made the claim to Herb Weisman of kval.com.
"Thieves have all kinds of ways to get your paper records and online transactions are encrypted," he pointed out.
Linda Criddle, internet security expert, gave three factors to check before using online banking.
She said that security software needs to be updated, passwords have to be secure and difficult to guess and connections ought to be secure with firewalls in place.
Wireless networks need to be secured to prevent someone accessing sensitive data.
In related news, Online Banking Solutions has released a new business banking portal.
This allows the viewing and carrying out of online banking activity and is based to work with its latest version of Online Messenger.
Vice-president of systems and technology Scott Graf told Banking Business Review that such applications "are revolutionary".
