UK Payments Industry Update - Paul Smee, Chief Executive, Payments Council

In January 2005 Paul Smee joined APACS as Chief Executive and in March 2007 was appointed Chief Executive of the Payments Council.

Paul will bring to life the impact of the removal of cheques as a payment method. He will discuss how corporates will be affected, the opportunities it will bring to improve processes and the financial supply chain. This will be set in the context of the National Payments Plan.

Bacs and Faster Payments update - Michael Chambers, Managing Director Bacs Payment Schemes Ltd, Interim Managing Director CHAPS Clearing Company Limited.

Michael Chambers is an authority on automated payments and the banking industry.

Michael's theme will be:

Harcus Copper is a Senior Product Manager at Barclays responsible for the International Payment, UK Same Day Payment, SEPA Credit Transfer and SWIFT Connectivity propositions for Corporate customers.

Making SEPA relevant to UK corporates - progress at last! 7 months after the Payment Services Directive went live, things are finally starting to happen. End dates are being set, migration timetables enforced and customers are being managed on a pan-European basis.
